About Us
Hi, I’m Janet; I bought The Corner Patch in May 2019, taking over from previous owner, Jane Alcock.
In 2023 I also took on the shop unit next door, using the space to display and demonstrate Janome sewing machines and overlockers. This also gave us the chance to extend our range of dressmaking fabric and introduce dressmaking patterns.
The Corner Patch really is an amazing little patchwork & quilting shop in the historic country town of Eccleshall, Staffordshire. It is hard to believe the range of fabrics that are fitted into the compact space available. It is one of many independent shops within the town, which combine to make Eccleshall a delightful place to visit and shop.
We offer a fabulous range of 100% cotton fabric, a variety of waddings, top-quality Mettler threads, and haberdashery and notions for all your patchwork, quilting and sewing needs.
In 2023 I also opened Staffordshire Sewing Machines Ltd shop unit next door, using the space to display and demonstrate Janome sewing machines, overlockers and accessories. This also gave us the chance to extend our range of dressmaking fabric and introduce dressmaking patterns.
During 2025 I decided that the shops were too much for one person to manage and i decided to change the shop into a co-operative. Other like-minded people were recruited and in January 2026 we transformed into The Corner Patch Co-operative Ltd.
There are now seven of us jointly owning and running the business in a true democracy, sharing the work and the fun!
As a customer you may not notice much difference; you may see new faces serving in the shop, we are planning to extend our range of workshops and classes, and may, in time, extend out opening days.
You will still receive a warm welcome in our shop and we are happy to spend time with you discussing your fabric needs, help you with your project or show you how to get started.
Our aim is to encourage and inspire you with all your sewing projects and we offer a full range of workshops and classes for all ages and abilities. From hand piecing to machine quilting, dress making and basic sewing techniques and more – there is something for everyone.
The full programme of our classes and workshops is on the website. You can book online or please contact us (details below) for further details. We limit workshops to a maximum of six participants (with a maximum of just 4 students for dressmaking and felting workshops) to ensure everyone has personal attention and can proceed at their own pace whether a beginner of more experienced.
We also offer individual tuition if you prefer; this can be on all sewing related topics – getting to know your sewing machine, introduction to patchwork, dressmaking for beginners, making cushions using zips and piping – and much more. Tuition is just £30 / hour and will be arranged at a mutually convenient time.
We also have a series of ‘Sit and Sew’ sessions for you to come and enjoy a relaxed sewing session in the company of like-minded people. Each session costs just £7.50 which includes use of our computerised sewing machines, rulers, cutting mat and rotary cutter, tea or coffee and biscuits. Again booking is essential as space is limited. Sessions take place on:
Wednesday 10am – 1pm, 1.30pm – 4.30pm, 5.30pm – 8.30pm
Friday 10am -1pm, 1.30pm – 4.30pm.
If you can’t make it to the shop, you can browse through our wide range of fabrics and notions in our on-line shop.
We offer a friendly and reliable service and aim to dispatch all postal orders the next working day, using Royal Mail, and offer free delivery on orders over £70 (within the UK).
Please do get in touch if you have any queries relating to our products. We also welcome telephone and postal orders.
