Dart Manipulation Workshop – shaping fabric, with Bec

Ever looked at a pattern and wondered how those odd little triangles turn into something that actually follows the body?
In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, we’ll explore how fabric is shaped – using darts, pleats and gathers – and what happens when you start moving that shaping around.
Working from a simple bodice block, you’ll learn how darts function, how to reposition them, and how to transform them into soft gathers, pleats or design lines.
It’s a practical session, with plenty of time to try things out, play, and see how small changes create very different results.
This is ideal of you’ve done some sewing and are ready to go a bit off-pattern – understanding what you’re doing, rather than just following instructions.
By the end, you’ll have a set of samples and a clearer feel for how to control shape, fit and movement in your own makes.
