Ponte Roma is a versatile double-knit fabric with a comfortable feel. As the name suggests, it was first produced in Italy and it’s name translates as “Roman Bridge” due to the weave structure of the fabric resembling the bridges of classic Rome.
Ponte Roma is usually heavier and thicker than a single knit jersey as it is constructed from two layers of fabric knitted together as one. It has a slight ribbed appearance.
This is a bright multi-coloured design of abstract geometric shapes.
As a guide to size, the smallest rectangular shapes measure approximately 3 inches on their longest side.
The heavier weight means that the fabric will resist bagging and seating and will retain its shape.
It will be perfect for autumn and winter garmetns – dresses and skirts, trousers and tunics.
