Behrens Fabrics – Suede plain dyed with Foil – Dressmaking – Black – Polyester / Elastane – 22108 069

This is a beautiful fabric!
I usually buy fabrics made from natural fibres. This one is a mixture of polyester and elastane, but was too good to let it get away! T
Available in both black and navy blue, this is labelled as Suede, plain dyed with foil.

One side does have a suede effect, but the other is a faux leather, with a shiny, snakeskin appearance from a printed foil design. The two sides could be used to advantage in collar and revers, pockets, cuffs etc.
The design is tiny and it is very difficult to photograph and show in a picture.

It is a soft, flexible, supple and lightweight fabric. The 10% elastane gives it a slight stretch and woudl make it very comfortable to wear.
My first thought was trousers, (am I too old for snakeskin effect faux leather trousers??), but it would also be lovely as a skirt, lightweight jacket, or a top.
It could also be used for bags, or trims on bags.

Both colours are wonderful; the dark colours show off the slight sheen.
This is classic black.
