Perhaps you want to use some of our lovely non-fray boiled wool, or the ‘suede’, or the wool polyester fabric, but feel anxious about working with this fabric.
Have you seen some of the photos of the garments made with this fabric? Or perhaps seen the garments on display outside The Corner Patch?
They look amazing and are actually quite straightforward to make. I’ve learnt a lot making these and am setting up some workshops to share my hints and tips for cutting out and sewing.
The workshop will run from 10am – 4pm, and you will have the opportunity to make a coat using the Brooklyn (pictured) or Verona patterns from Tessuti.
You will need to purchase your own copy of this pattern, which we stock at The Corner Patch.
You will also need to bring, or buy some suitable ‘non-fray’ fabric.
We have various colours of 100% boiled wool in stock, and some boiled wool/acrylic mix too. The faux suede could also be used; be aware this is a much lighter weight fabric than the wool, so perhaps more suitable for a jacket.
If you want to make the coat in a particular colour, please let us know so that we can order some for you.
It is a straightforward make and with care and concentration you may go home with a finished item.
If you don’t finish on the day, you will certainly be well on the way with the sewing and be confident to complete any remaining steps and finish at home.
Limited to just 4 students on each day so there will be room to cut out, all equipment will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own sewing machine.
Your own small sewing kit – pins, tape measure, small scissors – would be useful.
