Block of the Month 2027 with Jane Alcock

Great news for all fans of Jane Alcock – she is back with a new Block of the Month for 2027.

This year’s quilt is going to be a Calendar quilt in strips – not quite one for each month, but more than the four seasons.
Jane has designed it to reflect the changing season, while picking out noteworthy events through the year – we start with wintery cold, celebrate Valentine’s Day, move to flowers and signs of spring, bask in the heat of summer and trips to the seaside, mark the autumn with crisp leaves, and Bonfire Night and fireworks, and then move back to winter with Christmas celebrations.
Eleven sessions in total, 10 spent working on the blocks, with a final session to assemble the quilt top.

This will be your quilt and can be adapted as you choose; you may like to add more strips with designs of your choice, or you may choose to omit one that isn’t to your liking.
As the previous owner of The Corner Patch, we are delighted that Jane retains a connection with the shop and we persuade her to teach with us whenever we can.

The Block of the Month is always designed to be a perfect ‘next steps’ course for students who have completed the Beginner’s Patchwork and Quilting Course, while still stretching the abilities of more experienced patchworkers.

Two parallel sessions are scheduled for each month. Students can choose the dates that are most convenient for them, but many prefer to opt for either the first or second session, build a relationship with their fellow students and it becomes a social sewing time too.

Students can also dip in and out of individual sessions if they want to learn a particular block, provided there are spaces available.
